Our Syndicat represents various trades including: collectors, traders, (some do both activities), and other trades related to raw hides and skins. Typically, collectors’ savoir-faire is key to ensure the quality of the hides.
Their work consists in:
- Collecting the skins and hides from packing houses shortly after slaughter.
- Identifying the skins to ensure traceability.
- Proceeding to PARAGE and HABILLAGE.
- Classifying according to weight, number/type of defects.
- Salting, sampling and CROUPONNER.
- Palletizing and stocking in suitable conditions before shipping.
- Organising shipment.
Traders have a commercial role only and are not involved in any of the above.
